Cosmitorium was birthed at the death of a local Bay Area metal band whose remaining members had an insatiable drive to continue making music. James Owen (vocals), Nick LaSalle (guitar) and Dylan Walker (drums) had unfinished goals in their world of music and were confronted with wanting to continue to play together with an incomplete lineup. Knowing that long time friend and previous bandmate Alex Chapman (guitar) had the tenacity and writing capacity to propel a project forward, Dylan convinced Alex to help form something new. In the Fall of 2018, Cosmitorium was born and shortly thereafter “Peak and Surrender” was written, a blueprint for what was to come. In May 2020, Peak and Surrender had been released as a debut single on all streaming platforms. During the Fall of 2023 "Broken Archetypes," the debut album, was unleashed on the world. The album is richly chaotic yet simple in its delivery - four men (with the help of legendary fretless bass wizard Arran McSporran) engaging in synergistic counterpoint with constant time signature changes and uniquely catchy phrasing. Cosmitorium is here to stay and are clearly just getting started as they continue to develop their sound and set the stage for what will hopefully be a lively career of genre defying and defining music.
